Some of you know her as Jessica, some as Jaide. Only I call her Jaidie. Well, this girl is a real character. Every once in a while I get some of that little girl in her and I love it. I thought I'd share a few recent "Jaide moments".
About a month ago it was back to school and time for the kids annual fathers blessings. Jaide and I were talking about those blessings and she asked me something I thought to be quite profound and insightful for a 9 year old. She asked, "Did Heavenly Father give us a Father's blessing before he sent us down to Earth?" I love that thought, and the fact that she'd come up with it.
Let me type a conversation we had yesterday when she came home from school.
Jaide: Mom, I know how you can get tons of money from the school.
Mom: Oh yeah? How's that?
Jaide: Just sue them and I have a good reason.
Mom: You do (trying not to chuckle), and what's that?
Jaide: They taught us a song today that said King Henry's head got chopped off. They should NOT be teaching that kind of stuff to little kids. It's inappropriate!"
A little later yesterday she asked me if I'd be happy if I had a thousand dollars? (She must have money on the brain.) I told her I would for a few minutes, until it was gone. She thought about that a little and then said, "I think what makes people really happy is love, hope and faith and Jesus." I'm glad she's figuring that out.
Last one. The drama side of Jaide. She asked me to watch her and to guess who she was. She proceeded to put on Kevins glasses then pull them off from across her face very serious like, shook her hair out and put the ear part into her mouth. Keeping eye contact with me the whole time (except for when she shook her head). I couldn't help but laugh, I said I don't know who are you? She said, "Everyone! I see everyone do that.' I figured it would be some drama queen movie star or something. She has such a fun perspective on things.

Here I am 2 days later adding to my little Jaidie moments. This was so funny though, I can't believe I forgot to put it in originally. When she found out that she would have Mr. Lee for a teacher she bawled. She wanted me to make the principal change her. She'd really wanted the sweet Mrs. Angel that McKenna had. Mr. Lee is a huge man in his early 60's with a big beard and mustache-a bit intimidating. Jaide was so scared she got sick. Throwing up she had to miss her very first day of school. She "knew" he was mean and she would have a terrible year. I explained to her that she needed to give him a chance before she should judge him. I hated seeing her make herself sick over it but feel it's also important that she learn to find good in each person. We talked about how he is one of Heavenly Fathers kids just like her and that she should give him a chance to prove that he's nice and good. Her constant worry and criticism of him was driving me crazy. I gave her an assignment. She had to find 5 good things about him on "her" first day of school (really the 2nd day). This is what she came up with.
1. He gave them candy.
2. He could save something to eat in his beard for later.
3. He could play Santa at Christmas time.
4. He didn't yell at anyone.
5. The class room was clean.
I should let you know that she loves Mr. Lee now. She seems very happy and is adjusting very well.

You do have a cute family!! I am glad that a few of your kids like to put up with mine!! Thank you for sending them over!! And thanks for your comments too!!
she is so adorable....how very sweet for her to think the way she does...i think that we do get a pre-mortal blessing. i would be happy to have $1000 but shes right thats not the most important thing in life. good job for making her stick out her teacher, i would have given in out of intimidation myself! i learn so much from you all the time!if not from you then through your kids from you...kids are so funny.
