Good clean fun...yeah right!

I remember the days when my kids were young and I could make a fun game out of cleaning. I think it started with the clean up song then we moved into contests of who could pick up the most items or get done with chores first.

Insert teenagers. They've developed allergies. I have allergies to dust, they are allergic to the movements required to remove said dust.

This week we all had to deal with our allergies. I think theirs were worse than mine, poor kids.
I love a good deep cleaning. We did a complete overhaul. We cleaned bedrooms, under the fridge, freezers, oven and stove, windows, walls, mirrors, under beds, closets, drawers, end tables, the garage, the yard, and reorganized the pantry. We washed, dusted, vacuumed, scrubbed, sneezed, moaned, groaned and even cried a little. I loved it. When we were done with that I cleaned the carpets throughout the house.

I'm no longer sneezing and the kids still have all limbs and mental faculties intact. Kevin luckily has no allergies to work, he is unfortunately allergic to teenagers. Now, if anyone would like to come stay, this is a great week for that. Lol.

Trevin thinks the worst job in the house is the bathroom. He always says I have OCD of the bathroom because it has to be perfect. If he only understood, OCD would entail having him do it perfectly EVERY day.....hmmm. Bathroom OCD doesn't sound so bad after all. I can fake OCD.

I have never heard of having an alergy to get out of chores! I am going to have to try that sometime on my mom!!
Were you cleaning your house for the foster care inspection?

I LOVE that feeling when the house is totally scrubbed clean. One can "breathe" easier. :)

I love reading about your interaction with your children. I look forward to my children growing up (though it is intermingled with dread at the same time.) You give me fresh perspective and optimism about raising tweens/teens. My mom fears the teenage stage so much that she forgets to have fun, and I don't want that to be me too.

Wow, your house sounds way cleaner than mine! Want to bring your crew to my place :) they would be sneezing for sure here! Your such a great MOM! :)
Your hubby needs to see my house and my bathroom :) He would be thankful that he has you for his wife :)

I must have allergies to cleaning my bathroom, that's always the last thing I get to, unfortunately.

so are the allergies real or an excuse to get out of chores? i mean is that your excuse for the major cleaning and their excuse to get out of it? either way....you rock and give suck awesome perspective on kids and life...when i grow up i want to be just like you!

Mine are real and they get me out of nothing besides owning a cat-and who knows how long I can hold off on that one. I was meaning the kids are allergic to work. I don't think that message came across very well.
