Preparing for the future

I have some of the funniest, craziest kids ever. Some of them crack me up on a regular basis. Jaide is one that I can count on at least weekly to stump me with something going on in her head.

The other day we were driving in the car and she started to tell me all the rules she was going to have on her children. I was quite surprised that she has thought so far ahead and in such depth for a 10 year old. She actually wrote a list of rules, as well as goals to prepare her for wife and motherhood. With Jaide's permission (she's quite proud of herself) I have included the lists.

Rules for my children

1. If they go somewhere they are not supposed to or without asking they get grounded for a week.

2. If me and my husband fight we take it somewhere else. (Hopefully she came up with this because of our wonderful example.)

3. Curfew on week days is at 10:30.

4. Family night starts at 5:30 and ends at 7:00.

5. No babysitting on family night. Well they can if it's before 5:30 and after 7:00.

5. We have family night on Monday and Saturday. Monday is the lesson and Saturday we'll do something fun. We have treats both times.

6. I'm going to have a box of healthy snacks that my kids can get into anytime they want. They can only have treats for family home evening.

7. Curfew on weekends is at 11:00. (I love that this is only 1/2 hr. after the week days.)

8. The punishments are time out, corner, grounded and in your room.

9.You can't wear makeup until 12 except eyeliner at 14. (This is my rule which Jaide hates because she wants to put it on now with her sisters. After thinking about it with her own kids, she "confessed" that I'm right and she's wrong. Lol.)

Things to do before I get married

1. Go to college
2. Go on a mission
3. Get a good job
4. Read the Book of Mormon 3 times a day so I know it really good.
5. Pray a lot.

She also told me the names of her children (7 of them!) and said she doesn't have her husband's picked out yet. I told her he's already been named and is somewhere on this earth right now and that kind of floored her.

She also said she's going to live at Sagehen reservoir. I asked where her husband would work since it's so far from civilization and she said, "in the town we build." I let her know it would cost a lot of money to build a town and she replied, "We'll just ask Obama." Hmmm. Who's she been listening to? Lol.

That girl has some really good ideas! I love only treats on family nights (but does the mom have to follow that rule too?).

We've camped at Sagehen and love it! So beautiful, my only complaint is that the drinking water is nasty.
